About Me
I am 28 and have been on the pagan path for 10 years now. About 2 years ago I had a very moving experience, at Dragonfest (a pagan festival in the mountains of Colorado). I was called to Isis and have been serving her, to the best of my ability, and concentrating on a Kemtic path ever since.
Music
My musical tastes are all over the place. I like rock, Celtic, Mediterranean, Latin, and classical. My all time favorite band is Ka'nal, if you ever get a chance to see them you will be blown away.
Movies
I am not really much of a movie person. They are too expensive to go to and movie producers usually pander to the mindless masses. If you saw Van Hellsing you know what I am talking about.
TV
Any animated show and Lost that is about all I watch. Oh yeah HBO's Rome was wicked good too.
Books
I LOVE to read. Favorite authors and books include: Steven King (The Talisman), Sara Douglas (Starman), Gayle Greeno (Ghatti's Tail Series), Dean Koonz (Odd Thomas), Robin Hobb (Assassin Series), Kathy Reichs (Crossed Bones), and Dave Duncan (Lord of the Fire Lands).
Likes
Spending time with my husband, reading, my cat (Shadow le Fete), frogs, veil dancing, hanging out with friends and having good conversation, learning new things, the word onomatopoeia, and Asian food.
Dislikes
People who chose to be stupid or uneducated (not people who don’t know something but people who refuse to learn something, hypocrisy, spiders, country western music, hip-hop and rap, koala bears because they are dirty liars and they freak me out, people who think that they are better than everybody else, my mother-in-law most of the time, Indian food, and the idea that Paris Hilton or Nicole Richie are famous (why do we still hear about them?)
Hobbies
Spending time with my husband, reading, doing nature journaling, veil dancing, hanging out with friends and having good conversation, and studying.
Vices
If it goes in your mouth I do it. Drinking, smoking, eating, chocolate...
Virtues
I don't do drugs, I am love to learn new things, I love animals, and I know how much frogs rock.
Heroes
My heroes are:
1. My mom who kicks ass in heaven I'm sure.
2. Jane Goodall
3. Cookie Monster he is taking it one day at a time and faces his demons everyday.
Well no one seemed to have anything good (or bad) about the House of Netjer, but so far I think that it is pretty cool. I did my first Beginner class, and it was a little slow paced, but to be fair all we really talked about was how to work IRV really so I sure it will pick up.
Everyone at HoN and on the forums seem really nice, and they know their stuff to so I am pretty impressed and excited to join them.
On to work. I started back at my old job R&R, it seem pretty much the same and everything is going okay, but I forgot how much my feet hurt after a whole day of wearing heels ;-). Kim is getting on my nerves some. She has an annoying habit of pulling my hair or grabbing out my hair tie when she walks by me, but I know that she does it all in fun, so I try to take it in stride.
My graduation from Cambridge is tomorrow and I hope that I have a good time, but it all seems so pointless, I am going to go back for a BS soon because the Associates I have is a joke. Well all I can do now is pay the loans and get over the fax that I wasted 23,000.00 dollars and 2 years of my life on a worthless degree. Everyone should know that getting an AS in Medical Billing is a waste of time and just go for the BS.
I come on today and saw that the last time I was here was over 5 months ago. OMG I knew it had been a while but not that long. I took a break to try to find some sane local pagans, because some many of the pagans in Denver are flakes. I found a couple of promising meet-ups and I am starting the beginner class at the House of Netjer. (A Kemetic organization.)
So much has changed in my life since I last posted. I went thru my externship for school and graduated, I was looking for work for almost 3 months, but I just got a job yesterday! Yeah! I went back to weight watchers and am losing more weight every week.
My two best friends where fighting, but are trying to make up. But the boy friend of my best fem friend HATES my best male friend and so it is making a reconciliation between my friends harder than it should be.
Hopefully with this new job and the improved weather things will stabilize, because everyone around my house has been super cranky (including me). I think that now we can afford to get out of the house, and the weather is nice enough so that we feel like going out, we will break of the funk that we have been in.
I am going to try to get back here more often now that things are in less of a flux.
I know it sounds stupid but my ideal yule gifr (one for me not one for the betterment of man kind) is a Chia pet. Specifically a Chia frog. Every year I ask for one, but I never get one, and when I go to the store to but myself one they're out. So I wanted to know what everyone else wanted (again a gift for your self not one to make some one else happy, and not one for the betterment of man kind just something small that you would really like have) Something you can never find or something you always wanted.
Wow! I am a little surprised at the amount of response that I got on my last post. I have posted rants before and few people have commented.
I do want to clarify that I was not directing my rant at any specific person on covenspace.
But in other news I a so happy to have a long weekend from both work and school, it is great to be able to hang out with my husband and chill at home. I have spent more time at home in the last 3 days than I have in the month that went before it.
My cat is very confused by my being home so much. She is constantly laying on me and follows me everywhere, she is bound and determined to keep me from going anywhere.
I was going to go shopping for some incense stuff, but then I remembered that it is the week end after thanksgiving. I am so against Black Friday shopping because I think that it is just another way to fool the masses into buying in to the consumer culture that most Americans have. Also I think that a lot of people spend two or three times what they intended because of the "but it's half off" mentality that Black Friday sales build up.
in life you can't deny much, thats a fact, so I'm not going to attempt to deny that some people are in it just to shock others, but those are the ones so transparent that it isn't hard to ignore them. they're just the paris hiltons of the world and everyone just pays attention to them because of how flashy and ignorant they are. but when asked questions about it and all, they're lost. they will get their repayment, that we can be sure of.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw your page. lol I'm actually a little suprised there are not more. We are not a community starved for pagans, that's for sure!
I agree, I am constantly disappointed by books that may as well be read with a bowl of popcorn! I personally like something a little more in depth, where I feel that I have really learned something that can be trusted as having been well thought out, researched and presented.
